Join the Guild

The Balboa Park Puppet Guild (BPPG) welcomes all who are interested in the art of puppetry. Members include a wide spectrum of puppet enthusiasts: professionals, amateurs, hobbyists and just plain puppetry fans.

Annual fee is $20.00.

Membership includes:

Free admission to all shows performed by guild members upon completion of volunteer duties.

An email newsletter to keep you informed of guild events, programs and puppet theater shows.

The opportunity to get involved in guild performances.

Free admission to workshops and demonstrations held by guild members to share our knowledge of the art of puppetry.

The guild's mission is to support the Puppet Theater and to further the education in various aspects of puppetry, to provide a nurturing atmosphere to budding puppeteers and to provide enjoyable activities to those who share a common interest.

The Balboa Park Puppet Guild encourages members to join Puppeteers of America which has intensive and exciting festivals each year. The festivals offer excellent performances and from the USA, Canada and abroad, in addition to workshops taught by experienced puppeteers covering various aspects of puppetry, an exhibit and a puppet store with large selections of books, puppets, and puppet related items.

Meetings and activities are generally held at the Marie Hitchcock Puppet Theater. Programs are planned according to the needs and interests of guild members and may include:

Workshops and demonstrations in puppet construction or manipulation, scripting, design, etc.
